Training Programs for Leaders of Women’s NGOs on Capacity Building

SIG has developed a 30-hour training program for leaders of Women’s NGOs to share best practices and to help strengthen their capacity thereby ensuring their sustainability and improving the quality of their initiatives to empower women.

  • This program, sponsored by the US Embassy in Lithuania, was implemented in Kaunas, Lithuania March 12-15, 2013 for 25 women NGOs leaders.


Strengthening the Capacity of Women’s NGOs in Lithuania builds the capacity of women’s NGOs ensuring their sustainability and improving the quality of their services for women’s empowerment initiatives. The training program, held in Kaunas was facilitated by Courtney Price, PhD (USA). Twenty-five leaders of women’s NGOs attended the training program from across Lithuania including Vilnius, Kaunas, Marijmpole, Jurkarkas, Kretinga and Alytaus. The training program’s goals were to:

  • strengthen the women’s NGO sector in Lithuania;
  • build sustainability of their activities; and
  • share women’s empowerment best practices from the American perspective.

The intensive, interactive training program focused on participants gaining new knowledge and skills in areas such as fundraising, proposal writing, marketing, networking, and lobbying. All participants received a Certificate of Completion. Vanna Chan, Political/Economic Officer and Giedra Gurevičiūtė-Demereckienė, Political/Economic specialist from USA Embassy Vilnius participated in the closing ceremony and helped present certificates to each participant.
